Apartment Renovation
Our Problem
For decades prospective renters always had two complaints: the bedrooms were too small and there was never enough closet space. These were two common problems found in Chicago’s older neighborhoods. We also discovered that the kitchen showed signs of aging, and wear and tear.
Our Solutio
After interviewing several renters, we found that they had no idea whether or not their furniture would fit into the bedrooms. Their estimation was best on their poor space perception. Since most renters have a queen size bed we decided to stage this bedroom with an elevated queen size bed, a table with a lamp and a corner chair. This erased any doubts about the size of the room. We decided to stage this room and left the second identical room unstaged and every single person said the unstaged room appeared significantly smaller. The difference is in the staging!
To solve the second problem, we looked at the amount of wasted space in the apartment’s long hallway. We simply cut the hallway in half by building a glass block wall divider which created two small spaces and we added another doorway through the wall in the living room. On one side of the glass block wall we created a giant walk-in closet, and the other was a spacious mudroom. Think you have a hard to rent unit? CRI Staging is here to solve your problems!
